The spellcaster summons and releases a large round spirit made of soul energy, which is then quickly sent flying in a 5ft-wide and 60ft-long line.
The first creature in this line must succeed on a Dexterity Saving throw, taking 3d8 Force damage on a failed save, and no damage on a successful one.
On a successful save, the spirit continues it’s course, potentially hitting other creatures that are standing in the same line with the same hit and miss conditions. The spirit vanishes if it successfully hits a creature or an obstacle.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 1st.
Clearly a D&D adaptation of the spell of the same name in Hollow Knight.
