This spell can only be performed on a willing creature of draconic origins, such as a dragonborn, kobold, or draconic bloodline sorcerer. The caster can also be the target of this spell. During the entire casting time the creature must be on top of the pile of coins with the scale and gem within 5 feet of the creature. If concentration is held for the full duration the spell is successfully cast and the target transforms into a dragon whose challenge rating is equal to or less than the target's (or its level, if the target doesn't have a challenge rating). The target's game statistics, including mental ability scores, are replaced by the statistics of the new form, including legendary actions and legendary resistances, with the following exceptions: It retains its alignment and personality, it retains any tool, language, armor, weapon and skill proficiencies it possessed and if the target had the spellcasting or pact magic feature it retains its choice of a number of spells equal to its current challenge rating along with all of its previous spell slots. It can cast these spells without requiring material components, unless one or more of the materials is consumed upon use.

The target assumes the hit points of its new form, and whenever it would drop to 0 hit points it begins to make death saving throws as normal. The target also chooses if its equipment drops to the ground or melds into its new form, and if its equipment is magical the creature can choose to keep that equipment equipped and attuned, magically changing size to fit the new form.

This new form cannot be dispelled and is unaffected by any effect that would nullify a magical effect, such as antimagic field. If the creature dies in this new form it stays dead, but can still be targeted by spells such as revivify. Regardless of the dragon the creature transforms into it also gains the change shape ability but this form of change shape can only be used to polymorph into its original form, retaining all of its current stats except for its size.
