You bond with a willing (friendly) beast of a CR no greater than half your level rounded down. Appearing in an unoccupied space within range, the beast is now imbued with a fragment of divine essence and is considered a celestial instead of a beast. This companion maintains its existing physical statistics but receives bonuses to each of its mental statistics equal to half of the caster's level plus half of the caster's wisdom modifier. These bonuses rise if these aspects of the caster improve over time.

Your companion acts independently of you, but it almost always obeys your commands. The DM can choose to have the companion defy commands if they deem the situation warrants it. In combat, it rolls its own initiative and acts on its own turn.

When the companion drops to 0 hit points, it disappears in a fashion appropriate to the type of cleric the creature was bonded to. The same creature can be resummoned by casting the spell again.

While your companion is within 100 feet of you, you can communicate with it telepathically. Additionally, as an action, you can see through your companion's eyes and hear what it hears until the start of your next turn, gaining the benefits of any special senses that the familiar has. During this time, you are deaf and blind with regard to your own senses. This effect can simply be maintained by spending an action on subsequent rounds.

As an action, you can temporarily dismiss your companion. It disappears into a pocket dimension where it awaits your summons. Alternatively, you can dismiss it forever. As an action while it is temporarily dismissed, you can cause it to reappear in any unoccupied space within 30 feet of you.

As a reaction, and while your companion is within 100 feet of you, you can choose you can choose to take half of any damage done to your companion, thus reducing the damage taken by the companion by the same amount. Damage taken in this way cannot be reduced in any way, ignoring any resistances or vulnerabilities you may possess.

You can't have more than one companion at a time. If you cast this spell on a new beast while you already have a bonded companion, the spell simply fails.

Finally, when you cast a spell with a range of touch, your familiar can deliver the spell as if it had cast the spell. Your familiar must be within 100 feet of you, and it must use its reaction to deliver the spell when you cast it. If the spell requires an attack roll, you use your attack modifier for the roll.
