You imbue temporary life back into an area or piece of dead wood that you can touch, for example part of a wooden building or furniture, in an area that fits within a 5-foot cube. roots spring forth and search for loose earth, bark regrows, buds twigs and leaves rapidly grow from that. You then manipulate it in one of the following ways:
-
Furniture can animate and shamble slowly and awkwardly in a direction you choose, moving up to 5 feet per turn. This movement doesn’t have enough force to cause damage.
-
Inosculation You cause wood to interlock and fuse together locking doors or windows or closing small holes.
If you cast this spell multiple times, you can affect greater changes to the reanimated wood. -
If the floor is wooden you cause it to become difficult terrain growing roots and branches. This takes 10 minutes of casting the spell per 5 foot area.
-
If you cast this on a living plant you can grant temporary hitpoints, 1 per turn, up to ten temporary hit points that then last up to 4 hours or until you drop concentration.
-
you can spend an hour casting this spell and train the plants into defensive shapes, the equivalent of casting Spike Growth (lvl 2) without the camouflaging magic. however the effect is as permanent as the wood.
-
Pleaching: turn a wooden finch into a dense living hedge affecting small sections of 5 feet at a time, like the spell Wall of Thorns however using much more time requiring 15 minutes per 5 foot section. and the hedge will only have thorns if that is something the wood the fence was made from would normally have.
-
With enough lumber and time you can craft a living root bridge ie a type of simple suspension bridge formed of twisted bundles of live branches and roots to get across a gap.
when you cease casting this spell the temporary magic giving life to the wood will stop and the plant will start to die. -
If you cast this spell over 8 hours, and the conditions are right the wood may be able to properly take root and survive. If the conditions are difficult multiple druids can cast the spell together to combine their efforts to bring life back to a dead tree. Very difficult situations may call for a mass group ritual casting of an entire order of druids to imbue or sustain the life of a very ancient or holy tree that would otherwise die.
* - (a living twig of the same species as the wood being animated. )
