You create a field of latent energy around yourself for the duration.  During the duration, if you are targeted by, or come within, a spell effect cast by someone else, you may then attempt to seize control of that spell provided you can cast a spell at the level of the spell targeting you or affecting you.  To do so, you must first make your required saving throw.  If there is no saving throw from the spell effect (such as Control Weather or Control Winds, for instance), then you make a save using your spell casting ability v. DC 10 + the spell's level.

If your save is made, you must then contest the spell caster targeting or otherwise affecting you.  You engage in a simple contest: your spell casting ability as an attack (including your proficiency bonus) against the caster's spell casting ability.  If you are successful, you wrest control of the spell from the caster.  You may then chose to: end the spell as an action, continue to concentrate on the spell as if you had cast it, or otherwise react to it as if you were the caster.  (Wresting control of an Arcane Lock spell permits you to bypass it as if you were the caster.)

The entropic field works on any spell  that does not have a duration of "instantaneous."   Once the field has interacted with a spell or spell effect, regardless of your success, the spell ends.
