Vurghle's Sigil of Exclusion was invented by the mad Kobold mage, Vurghle the Red. The spell allows you to prevent specific targets from accessing something. When you cast the spell you can signify what the spell will exclude. It can be as broad as "exclude all creatures" or as specific as "exclude all Yuan-ti pureblood monks with eyes of two different colors and only one arm." You can only set one condition per sigil, (e.g. you can't say "exclude wererats and exclude all constructs with one eye. You have to choose one or the other). However, you can set it to exclude everything except for a particular set of creatures (e.g. exclude everything except solars). The sigil never excludes the caster who cast it. You do not have to have ever seen an example of your target to exclude them. You can only have five sigils of exclusion cast simultaneously. If you try to create a sixth, your oldest sigil automatically dispels itself. Sigils of exclusion continue to exist, even after the caster's death. You can choose to dispel any of your existing sigils at will for free.
When you cast this spell, a glowing red sigil appears on whatever you cast it on. This spell can be cast on a variety of objects.
If it is cast on a door, window, gate, etc., the opening cannot be operated by the excluded target. However, if the door etc. is already open, the excluded target can pass through the opening (e.g. a human could not open a door that had a sigil excluding humans cast on it, but if the door was already open the human would have no trouble walking through it).
If it is cast on a container, such as a chest or a bottle, the excluded target cannot open that container.
If it is cast on a permanent teleportation circle, the excluded target cannot teleport to that circle. Additionally, the sigil is incorporated into the sigil sequence for the circle. The old sigil sequence is no longer valid, and any attempts to teleport to it simply cause the attempt to fail. A caster must learn the new sequence to be able to access the circle again.
If it is cast on a weapon, tool, magic item, etc., the excluded target is incapable of lifting or using that object. If it is a magical item that requires attunement, the excluded targets cannot attune to the item. Note: This spell cannot be cast on magic items of legendary or artifact rarity.
If it is cast on a flat surface, the sigil creates an invisible magical cylinder that prevents excluded targets from passing through its space. If cast on the ground or a ceiling the cylinder has a 2.5-foot radius and is 40 feet high (or until at least 2/3 of it contacts another surface, whichever is shorter). If cast on a wall the height component becomes horizontal length instead. Excluded targets cannot move, hurl projectiles, or cast spells through this cylinder. When cast at higher levels, you have the option to give the cylinder an additional 2.5 feet of radius and 10 feet of height for each additional level it is cast above 4th.
If cast on anything else, the spell has no effect.
A knock spell can suppress the effects of this spell for ten minutes, during which time excluded creatures can interact normally with the targeted object. The knock spell must be cast at least one level higher than the level the sigil was cast at to have any effect.
An identify spell reveals the level the sigil was cast at, as well as what the sigil is excluding and who cast it.
At higher levels: If this spell is cast at a higher level it allows you to increase the area of the cylinder caused by casting it on a flat surface.
