Sliding through your hand the golden shavings you intricately move your fingers through them in a specific pattern that aligns with the weave of the arcane. Transmuting something nearby with the brilliant sheen of pure gold, though a keen eye will see through what the fool does not.

You target a piece of metal that you can see within the range of the spell no larger then a 5x5 ft. square. The metal begins to glisten and shimmer as you transmute a half inch of it's outer layer into brilliantly polished fool's gold. This layer of fools gold comes with a number of effects:

  • When in direct sunlight or a light spell the metal glistens bright enough to be blinding. Anyone looking at must make a DC 11 Dexterity Saving Throw or be blinded for 1 round. Creatures with light sensitivity have disadvantage on this role.
  • The metal can be used as a mirror.
  • To detect that the metal is not in fact real gold requires a DC 20 Wisdom [Perception] skill check to see through without actually cutting into the metal.
  • Lowers the weight of whatever metal was turned into fools gold by 1/4 it's total weight for the duration of the spell.
  • In darkness the metal reflects enough light to create 5 feet of dim light around it.
