Slick grease covers the ground in a 15-foot square centered on a point within range and turns it into difficult terrain for the duration. When the grease appears, each creature standing in its area must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or fall prone. A creature that enters the area or ends its turn there must also succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or fall prone.

When you cast the spell, you can use the created grease to coat an item instead. If the item is being worn or carried by a creature, the creature must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw to avoid to this effect (the creature can choose to fail). On a failed save, the item is covered in grease and if the item is being carried by the creature the item is immediately dropped. An item not being worn or carried is automatically covered in grease. The saving throw must be made once on each turn when a creature attempts to pick up or use the greased item. A creature wearing greased armor or clothing gains a +10 bonus to Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks to resist or to escape a grapple.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, each side of the grease increases by 5 feet for each slot level above 1st.
