Only items such as books, magical texts, and documents may be stored in the Vault of the Librarian. (Blank books and pages may not be stored in the Vault. Documents refers to notes, single spell pages, and other items of the like.)
When you cast Vault of the Librarian, the material components meld into the lock box used to cast the spell. Found inside the lock box, an index card appears in alphabetical order for every piece of knowledge stored in the Vault, as well as a blank card in the front. The lock box is stored inside a new pocket dimension, accessible only with the key used in the casting of this spell. To store items in the Vault, use the blank card in the lock box and have the item in hand. Write the name of the item on the card and it will be filed into the Vault.
As long as the connection to the Vault is not broken, the time it takes to access the contents of the Vault is an action and uses your object interaction, taking time to call the Vault from it's home dimension using the key and selecting a card from the lock box. After selecting a card, the named item instantly appears in hand and the lock box returns to the pocket dimension. The contents of the Vault do not collect dust or wither of old age. They remain in the same condition they were stored in.
If the lock box is destroyed, the contents magically stack neatly on the ground, breaking the spell.
