You unleash a line of flaming obliteration that is 60 ft. long, and 5 ft. wide.
This line can take any shape, such as a curve or a circle, as long as it is continuous and rests entirely on solid surfaces, such as travelling along the floor and up a wall. The starting point of the line must be within the spell's range, but does not need to end within it. If the beam travels through a space occupied by a creature, it must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 4d6 fire damage on a failure, or half as much on a success.
At the start of your next turn, the path covered by the beam flares up, creating a blast of fire - all creatures within 5 ft. of the beam's path must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 6d6 fire damage on a failure, and half as much on a success. The path burns for the duration. The first time a creature crosses this path in a round, it must make the saving throw again.
The beam ignites any flammable object that is not being worn or carried, and can cleanly melt through at least 1 inch of metal.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, the length of the line increases by 15 ft. per level of spell slot above 6th.
