You summon the dark, consuming energies of the void to your hand and direct them towards a creature within range in the form of a lash. The creature must then make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 3d6 force damage and gets pulled in a direct line to within 5 feet of you. On a successful save, it takes half damage and isn’t pulled.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the range of the spell increases by 5 feet for each spell slot level above 2nd.

Posted Oct 20, 2022The spell seems pretty cool but, unfortunately, is extremely underpowered. Let me explain: as a 2nd level spell this is slightly worse than guiding bolt which is a 1st level spell, a very powerful first level spell but still. Another comparison that can be made is lightning lure which does the same effect but 1d8 lightning damage…that scales… because it’s literally a cantrip. So this spell is awesome and I’d honestly let my players run it at my table but, the unfortunate thing about it is that it becomes irrelevant after 5th level as lightning lure does 2d8 now and doesn’t cost a spell slot. To make this more powerful I’d recommend either increasing how far you can pull them from or even make it a bonus action (though that could be pretty strong). The spell would be way more awesome if you could either pull them from 30 feet or be able to immediately start wailing on them if it was a bonus action. So cool spell just needs a buff.
