You present your Holy Symbol and challenge a creature to a duel, which may be either declined or accepted. The creature must have an intelligence of 6 or higher and must know a language, else the spell fails to take hold and the casting is wasted. The creature becomes aware of the effects of this spell upon being challenged. If the creature declines to accept the spell, they must make a Wisdom saving throw against your Spell DC or be afraid of you until the spell ends. This fear bypasses normal fear immunity.
If the creature accepts the spell, then the two of you are Bound to Duel: you both have disadvantage to attack any other creature, and all saving throws by other creatures against either of your spells are made at advantage. The two of you are also protected by Divine Mandate: all other creatures have disadvantage to attack the two of you, you both have advantage on saving throws against other creatures, and if either of you are attacked by a creature not bound by this spell then all attacks against that creature have advantage until the start of the creature's next turn.
If one of the creatures bound by this spell dies, then the remaining creature loses the imposition of being Bound to Duel. The Divine Mandate remains until the end of the spell.
