You call upon the plane of Gehenna to send forth a yugoloth that you may hire into your service. You choose the yugoloth's type, which must be one of challenge rating 5 or lower, such as a merrenoloth or mezzoloth. The yugoloth appears in an unoccupied space you can see within range, and the yugoloth disappears when it drops to 0 hit points or when the spell ends.

When the yugoloth appears, it is under no compulsion to behave in any particular way. You can ask the yugoloth to perform a service in exchange for payment, but it isn’t obliged to do so. The requested task could range from simple (fly us across the chasm, or help us fight a battle) to complex (spy on our enemies, or protect us during our foray into the dungeon). You must be able to communicate with the yugoloth to bargain for its services. If you summon the yugoloth directly into combat, roll initiative for the yugoloth, which has its own turns. In this circumstance, the yugoloth may aid you in combat but it will become hostile if it is not rewarded for its services after fighting (whether it disappears or not).
The yugoloth may be paid for its services in a variety of ways, depending on what the yugoloth in question desires. It may be paid in gold, magic items, a living sacrifice, or even in services rendered. As a rule of thumb, a yugoloth will demand an amount of gold equal to 100 times its challenge rating for every hour of service (for example, a mezzoloth would demand 500 gold pieces in exchange for 1 hour of service). The GM may decrease or increase this payment amount depending on the circumstances in which you cast the spell and the difficulty or importance of the given task. If you speak the yugoloth's true name, it must make a Charisma saving throw, rendering its services for free on a failed save.

Yugoloths always demand payment upfront (with the exception of the circumstance mentioned above) and once paid will carry out their duties to the best of their ability until they succeed or are slain. A yugoloth may attempt to renegotiate its payment if it comes to believe its task is too difficult to time-consuming but without the intervention of a higher level yugoloth, a yugoloth that has been paid will follow its instruction to the letter. A yugoloth is an evil creature, however, and will always strive to follow the interpretation of their orders in a way that brings them the maximum benefit or the maximum sadistic pleasure.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the challenge rating increases by 1 for each slot level above 4th.
