Ash's Remembrance

 You use a simple magical flame to burn the unburned fuel of a worldly flame within range, giving it purpose in exchange for information.

You can learn something that occurred in the presence of the material burned or the flame itself within the past day (conversation played out in shadows and text; path of a carried torch), or—if there is no relevant answer of this kind—a mental image or flame reproduction of the material's "home".

At Higher Levels. If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you can learn of more specific events and longer ago: up to 7 days ago (2nd level), 2 pieces of information (3rd level), up to 30 days ago (4th level), 3 pieces of information (5th level), up to 1 year ago (6th level), or any time in the past (7th level and onward).
