You bring two fists, one with the glass in it, together and flatten them, tilt them so the hand with the glass faces up, then push the upper hand off of the lower hand towards the target saying vardi thäet.

The glass glows and becomes a shimmering aura and wraps around the target, then fades. There is now a ward upon the target with 3d4+your spellcasting ability modifier HP. You choose any damage type and any damage of that type that would hit the target is absorbed by the ward instead, reducing its HP. If the source would cause more damage than the ward has current HP, the ward is broken and the target takes the remaining damage.

You can stack any number of these wards on top of each other, but each new ward must protect against a different type of damage.

The type of die used increases to a d6 when the caster reaches 5th level, a d8 when the caster reaches 11th level, and a d12 when the caster reaches 17th level.

The ward is dispelled when the caster takes a long rest.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, add one die for each slot level above 1st.
