A ribbon of wild fire erupts from beneath a target creature you can see within range. The target must make a Dexterity saving throw, suffering 8d6 fire damage on a failed save or half as much on a success. 
Whenever a creature fails its saving throw, you can choose to make the ribbon of fire leap from it to a new target you can see within 30 feet of the previous target, who must also make a Dexterity saving throw. You can continue to select new targets until one succeeds on its saving throw.

At Higher Levels. When casting this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, deal an additional 1d6 fire damage to all targets for every level above 5th.
