Etherial hands carve and shape even the toughest of materials to indicate a permanent marker on a thing (wall, item, pole, post, door, boat, dirt, clay, glass).

Despite the carving being made by arcane means the carving or inlaying is not inherently magical (it's not like a glyph of warding), however, it can be used in the making or identifying of an item.

Any engraving does not harm the structural property of said engraved piece. 

The total amount that can be carved/inlaid during the hour is limited to a surface area equivalent to a 5-inch cube or an area equivalent to a 12-inch square (at the DM's preference).
