You temporarily animate a corpse within 60 feet of you with the energy to lash out at nearby foes. Choose the remains of a Humanoid or Beast that have not been previously animated by another spell or ability, and are not under the effect of gentle repose. The corpse can immediately make an attack against a target within 5 feet of it using your spell attack bonus, or be commanded to wait to attack until a creature enters its range. On a hit, the target takes 2d6 bludgeoning damage and is grappled (escape DC 15). Whether the attack hits or misses, or if the target does not enter the corpse's range, the magic controlling the corpse fades at the start of your next turn and the corpse can not be targeted by this spell again.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you can target one additional corpse for each slot level above 1st.
