You target one willing creature (you can target yourself) within range. Then, you choose someone that you consider to be a hero in your heart and produce an artistic expression about that individual.

According to your memories of the hero that you're remembering, the target gains a bonus equal to a roll of your bardic inspiration. The specifics of the bonus are to be determined in agreement with your DM.

As an example: you could sing about Drizzt Do'Urden, a drow who defied an evil goddess and her cult, fleeing the Underdark for freedom aboveground. This drow elf ranger and his companions now defend the surface world from any who would harm it. In agreement with your DM, you could determine that signing about this individual gives your target a bonus to saving throws against the frightened condition.

When the DM and yourself agree with each other in determining what bonus is provided by a song about a certain individual (which can be any individual, even a fellow party member if you so choose), you add that effect as a possible option for this spell.

The bonus chosen at the moment of the casting of this spell lasts for the duration.

This effect grants the bardic inspiration roll each time the chosen bonus can be applied until the duration expires.

According to your travels and experience, you can find new inspiration with new heroes and add them to your artistic expression and increase the number of effects at your disposal (subject to DM approval).

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you can target one additional creature for each slot level above 1st.
