Create a length of independently operating chains to attack an enemy within sight. On an attack, the creature must make a dex. saving throw equal to or surpassing 10 plus your casting modifier. On a successful attack, the creature takes 1D8+2 bludgeoning damage.
If this cantrip is cast at higher levels as a spell, then the number of chains able to be conjured increases with the level. At first level, 2 chains, at second level, 3 chains, and so on. Add 1D8 for each level. If each chain is attacking separate targets, then the damage will be equal to 1D8 per attacking chain.
As a fifth level spell or higher you gain the ability to retrain a creature. If you are attempting to restrain a creature, then they must make a strength saving throw equal to or surpassing 9 plus your casting modifier. Only one chain can be used for restraint per creature. On a failed save, the creature takes 3 bludgeoning damage as the chains tighten around them for each round of combat they are retrained.
