You scatter a dark powder across the ground, causing thin dark tendrils to branch outward through the ground in a 30-ft cone.
Any creatures of your choice in the area when you cast the spell must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 2d8 Necrotic damage, healing you for half of the damage dealt, and are restrained as the dark tendrils wrap around and pierce into the creature until the spell ends. A creature restrained by the mycelium's hold can use its action to make a Dexterity check against your spell save DC. On a success, it frees itself.
When the spell ends, the conjured fungus fades away in a harmless cloud of spores.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 2. Additionally, creatures are restrained for an additional round for each slot level above 2.
