Arcing Weapon

As part of the action used to cast this spell, you must make an attack with a weapon against one creature within your weapon's range, otherwise the spell fails. On a hit, the target suffers the attack's normal effects, and crackling electricity leaps from the target to another creature within 15 feet of the target. The second target takes 1d4 lightning damage.

At 5th level, the attack deals extra lightning damage to the first target equal to 1d8 for a melee weapon or 1d6 for a ranged weapon, and increases to 2d8 or 2d6 at 11th level, and 3d8 or 3d6 at 17th level. Also, the damage to the second target increases to 1d6 at 5th level, 1d8 at 11th level, and 1d10 at 17th level.
