You evoke Abyssal blackflame, conjuring it onto a melee weapon you are holding. If you let go of the weapon, the flames disappear, but you can evoke the flames again as a bonus action.

On a hit, the target takes 2d6 fire damage and 1d6 necrotic damage and must make a Constitution saving throw (unless it is a construct or undead). On a failed save, the target's maximum hitpoints are reduced by the necrotic damage taken. If the creature's hitpoint maximum is reduced to 0, it dies. This effect lasts until the creature takes a long rest, or is targeted by greater restoration or a similar effect.

The flaming blade sheds bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the fire damage increases by 1d6 for every slot level above 4th and the necrotic damage increases by 1d6 for every two slot levels above 4th.
