You summon a handful of star-like motes to the palm of your hand. Choose a point within range. These motes then coalesce into the form of a floating spectral swordfish in that location. This swordfish lasts for the duration of the spell or until you cast this spell again. The swordfish is 15 feet in length, and the star-like motes reside within its translucent body connecting its form with faint glowing lines.
The swordfish can follow two commands:
Lacesso!- You can command the swordfish to make a melee spell attack against a creature within 5 feet of it. On a hit, the target takes force damage equal to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier.
Contego!- You command the swordfish to circle the caster or an ally within range, protecting them from oncoming attacks. The AC of the target increases by your spellcasting ability modifier for long as the swordfish is circling the target.
As a bonus action on your turn, you can move the swordfish up to 20 feet, and give it a new command.
When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for every two slot levels above 2nd.
