Contagions are powerful, like viruses. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to contain one that has affected your party for later use? Contained contagion is a mash up of True Resurrection and Contagion, designed originally to cure the virus-like strain of vampirism acquired by an adventurer.
The 'heart of the source' can be anything from the heart of the creature who infected you to the metaphorical heart of a spell.
