A blood mage has no need for a blade so long as the crimson rivers within them flow. As a bonus action, the caste sacrifices their own blood, drawn from the palm of their dominant hand, to form a crimson blade. This weapon cannot be dispelled nor can the caster be disarmed of it. The caster selects between 1d6, 1d8, 1d10, 1d12, or 1d20 as the weapon's damage dice. Whatever damage die you chose, the caster rolls this die for the initial casting of the spell to determine what HP will be sacrificed.

When cast above the 1st level, you may increase the number of damage die rolled for a successful attack, for each level cast above the first. You do not need increase the number of dice rolled for the blood sacrifice though.

For example, a caster selecting 1d8 for their blood sacrifice, need only to roll 1d8 for their sacrifice but may roll 2d8 for damage of successful attacks, if the spell is cast at the third level.
