Concentrate magical energy into your hand, then release it in a 5 foot wide, 200 foot long line in a direction you choose. Anyone who is hit by the initial casting must make a Dexterity saving throw, on a failed save they take 8d6 Force damage, on a successful save they take half, rounded down. A creature attempting to enter the space of the beam must make a Dexterity saving throw, on a successful save they take half rounded down. A creature already in the beam that ends its turn still in the beam makes a Constitution saving throw, on a successful save they take half damage. The beam will bounce off of surfaces, however it will only bounce up to 3 times and it cannot bounce 180 degrees. The beam will destroy terrain in its path if it is less than 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood blocks.

If a creature casts the Shield spell while in the beam they make a Strength saving throw instead of a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save they take half, rounded down, of the damage and are forced out of the space. On a successful save they take no damage and act like a surface the beam can bounce off of until the start of their next turn, and can deflect the beam in an angle they choose for the duration, however the same rules for bouncing apply. You may use the same roll for all instances of damage each round. The spell ends if you use your action to do anything else.

At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, add an additional 1d6 per level above 3rd.
