You syphon the vital essence from the world in a beam 20 feet long and 5 feet wide in a direction you choose. Each creature in the line must make a Constitution saving throw, taking 1d8 necrotic damage on a failed save, and no damage on a success. You gain Temporary Hit Points equal to half the total necrotic damage dealt. As long as you maintain concentration on the spell, you may create a new beam as an action. Once you have created three beams, the spell ends.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 2nd.
