Damage/Effect

You intentionally break some rule of magic, creating an arcane maelstrom within range.  As you are prepared for the consequences, you can aim the effects.  Roll a d10 and apply the corresponding result to a target in range if they fail the saving throw.

  1. 1d12 poison damage and the target uses its reaction to cough violently if it is not resistant or immune to the damage.
  2. 1d10 force damage and the target is forced to move a number of feet in a random direction (d8 for square grid, d6 for hex grid) equal to the force damage dealt after all resistances, immunities, vulnerabilities, and abilities are accounted for.  The movement forces open a door if it is targeted.
  3. (see result 7)
  4. (see result 7)
  5. (see result 7)
  6. (see result 7)
  7. 1d8 damage of your choice of acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder damage and 1 block within the target’s space becomes heavily obscured by smoke or fog until the end of your next turn.
  8. 1d6 psychic damage and the target whispers a horrific prophecy to an adjacent target of your choice, causing them to also take 1d6 psychic damage on a failed save.
  9. 1d4 necrotic damage and the target is grappled by its own shadow.  The escape DC is equal to your spell save DC.
  10. Choose one of the previous results.

At higher levels:. Roll on this table an additional time at 5th level, a third at 11th, and a fourth at 17th per casting.  You may select a different target for each roll.  You only apply the secondary effect of a single result per casting except for results of 8, 9, or 10.  You cannot deal acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder damage more than once each per casting.
