You create three warbling masses of chaotic energy and expel them as arcs toward up to three targets of your choice that you can see within range.
A target must make a Charisma saving throw. A target takes 2d10 damage from the mass instantly, 1d8 damage at the start of their next turn, and is marked on a failed save, or takes half as much damage from both instances on a successful one.
Further, when a target who failed the save takes the d8/s of damage at the start of their next turn, if both of the bolt's d10s are even or both are odd then two bolts leap from that target to two other targets immediately, each of which must be within 30 feet of the target that they leapt from. A creature immune to the damage type instead produces no extra bolts, absorbing the chaotic energy, and a creature resistant to the damage type will only produce one. Conversely, if the initial or secondary damage killed the target, it splits into three bolts.
Choose one of the d10s. The number rolled on that die determines the bolt's damage type, as shown below.(this functions for the initial and secondary damage, but is unique for each bolt.)
d10 Damage Type
1 Acid
2 Cold
3 Radiant
4 Fire
5 Force
6 Lightning
7 Necrotic
8 Poison
9 Psychic
10 Thunder
A target can be a creature or living object and can be targeted by only one of these extra bolts at a time. Targets of the extra bolts undergo the same effects as the initial targets. Creatures or objects can be targeted multiple times by these extra bolts, but never by multiple from the same source at the same time.
If at any point the caster loses concentration on the spell, the effect remains for the full duration but they can no longer control who the bolts hit, they will be randomly decided. If the caster decides to stop concentrating on the spell, the same effect happens.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the secondary damage increases by 1d8 for each level above 5th.
