You conjure seaweed and icy water in the form of a magical net and make a ranged attack with it against one creature within 15 feet of you. On a hit, the target takes 1d4 cold damage and becomes effected by the net until the start of your next turn. A net has no additional effect on creatures that are formless, or creatures that are huge or larger.
Attack rolls against the effected creature gain a bonus +2 to hit. In addition, the caster could opt to use their reaction to trigger the frozen net in order to reduce the targets attack damage roll by 1d4, ending the effect and destroying the net.
Dealing any slashing, acid, fire, lightning, or necrotic damage to the netted creature destroys the net and ends its effects. Otherwise, a creature can automatically free itself using an Action, a Bonus Action, or by expending half of its movement (rounded down).
At Higher Levels. At 5th level, the die increases to 1d6 for all effects. This further increases at 11th level to 1d8, and again at 17th level to 1d10.
