Before the surge can escape your control, choose a creature or object you can see within range and make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d10 damage. Roll an additional d10 to determine the attack's damage type, as shown below.

Roll on the Wild Magic Surge table whenever a 1 is rolled by either the attack roll or when any damage die show the same number as the damage type roll. The surge can cause you to regain use of the Tides of Chaos feature.

This spell's damage increases by 1d10 when you reach 5th level (2d10), 11th level (3d10), and 17th level (4d10).
