You grab the life essence of a creature and tear it out of them with a bolt of crackling electricity and negative energy, replenishing yourself with the stolen energy.
Choose a target you can see within 100ft. Negative energy coalesces around the target and pulls life energy from them. The target must make a Constitution saving throw. A creature takes 6d6 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one, and you heal half as much HP. The target gets Advantage on this save if they are Undead or Constructs, and you do not heal any HP.
Afterwards, a stroke of blackened lightning 5 feet wide arcs from the target to you. Each creature in the line (including the target) must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 4d6 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
The lightning leeches the life out of organic objects in the area that aren't being worn or carried.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the necrotic damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 3rd.
