As part of the casting process, you extract a small amount of your blood, spending hit dice equal to twice this spells level, and taking damage equal to the amount of hit dice spent. Choose another spell of the same level, that you know, have prepared, and that can be upcasted, with the same casting time; you cast it as 1 level higher than its normal level.
