As part of the action used to cast this spell, you must make a ranged attack with an alchemical item or poison against one creature within the spell’s range, otherwise the spell fails. You are considered proficient in improvised thrown weapons for the purposes of this attack, and you can use your spellcasting ability instead of Strength or Dexterity for the attack and damage rolls.

On a hit, the target suffers the item’s normal effects, and the spell also deals an additional 1d6 of the same damage type.

This spell’s damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6).

Damage that would continue across multiple rounds (such as with Alchemist's Fire) only does the cantrip damage on the initial attack.

* - (a damaging alchemical item, or an inhaled or contact poison)
