When you cast this spell, you inflict 1d4 necrotic damage on yourself that can't be healed until after the weapon created by this spell is dispelled or the spell ends. In the casting of this spell you bleed upon the selected weapon which then transforms into a copy of the weapon. This magic weapon lasts until the spell ends. It counts as a simple melee weapon with which you are proficient. The weapon is made of a red metal that functions as a +1 version and deals necrotic damage.
If you drop the weapon or throw it, it evaporates at the end of the turn. Thereafter, while the spell persists, you can use a bonus action to cause the weapon to reappear in your hand.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a 3rd- or 5th-level spell slot, the self-inflicted damage increases by 1d4 per level and the spell produces a +2 version of the weapon used in the casting of this spell. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th- to 9th- level, the self-inflicted damage continues to increases by 1d4 per level and the spell produces a +3 version of the weapon used in the casting of this spell. Weapons created using a 9th- level spell slot are of the wounding variety.
