A wall of magical darkness springs into existence at a point you choose within range and lasts for the duration. The wall is made up of 40 5-foot cubes and may not be more than 50 feet long in any direction. You can arrange the cubes in any shape as long as each cube is directly adjacent to at least one other cube and rests on top of another cube or the ground. A creature with darkvision can't see through this darkness, and nonmagical light can't illuminate it.
If any of this spell's area overlaps with an area of light created by a spell of 2nd level or lower, the spell that created the light is dispelled.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the number of cubes increases by 20 for each slot level above 2nd.

Posted Mar 28, 2019This is intended to be comparable in power to the Darkness spell, but allow players to shape the area of effect.
Note that this spell may not be cast on an item and therefore its effect cannot be moved or temporarily covered like that of the Darkness spell.
