Teleportation

You draw a shape no larger than 10 ft in any dimension on a flat surface and surround it with magical runes. Upon casting this spell, the shape you created becomes a two-way portal to a destination you select.

The destination you choose must be known to you, and it must be on the same plane of existence as you. Your familiarity with the destination determines whether the portal is created successfully or not. The GM rolls d100 and consults the table.

Familiarity. "Permanent circle" means a permanent teleportation circle whose sigil sequence you know. "Associated object" means that you possess an object taken from the desired destination within the last six months, such as a book from a wizard's library, bed linen from a royal suite, or a chunk of marble from a lich's secret tomb.

"Very familiar" is a place you have been very often, a place you have carefully studied, or a place you can see when you cast the spell. "Seen casually" is someplace you have seen more than once but with which you aren't very familiar. "Viewed once" is a place you have seen once, possibly using magic. "Description" is a place whose location and appearance you know through someone else's description, perhaps from a map.

"False destination" is a place that doesn't exist. Perhaps you tried to scry an enemy's sanctum but instead viewed an illusion, or you are attempting to teleport to a familiar location that no longer exists.

Success. The portal is created successfully.

Failure. The spell fails and the spell slot is lost.

The destination portal will form on the nearest surface of equal alignment in 3d space at the destination. For example if the shape was drawn on the wall, it will connect to a wall close to the destination. If it was drawn on a horizontal surface such as the ground or a table, it will connect to the next ceiling, and vice-versa. If no suitable surface is within 30ft of the destination, it will form mid-air right at the chosen destination.

Once opened, the portal remains open where it was created in both directions for the duration or until you dismiss it as an action regardless of whether the surface the portal was created on moves or is destroyed. Any creatures or objects that are touching the affected surface area need to make a Dexterity saving throw. On a successful save, they manage to reposition themselves in a free space next to the portal of their choice. On a failed save they involuntarily go through the portal immediately.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a 9th level spell slot, the destination can be on any plane of existence.
