You hurl a streak of light forward that lands with a crashing blow. Make a ranged spell attack that you can see within range. On a hit, the creature takes 1d8 radiant damage.
Additionally, if you are outside, you can instead choose for the shooting star to rain down from the sky, as opposed to coming directly from you, allowing the projectile to hit from a different angle and potentially bypassing cover.

The spell creates more than one shooting star when you reach higher levels: two stars at 5th level, three stars at 11th level, and four stars at 17th level. You can direct the stars at the same target or at different ones. Make a separate attack roll for each beam.
