You fire a bolt of black ferrofluid at a target in range. Make a ranged spell attack against a creature in range. On a hit the target takes 2d4 + 2 force damage and must make a constitution saving throw. On a failed save the target is afflicted with the following effects:

• They gain no benefits from magic items they are holding or wearing.
• They can’t activate magic items, or cast spells.
• All healing they receive is halved.

The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of their turn, as long as they have not attempted to cast a spell or activate a magic item on their turn. A successful save causes the effect to end.

At Higher Levels. When casting this spell with a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, impose a -4 penalty on one saving throw against this spells effects per level above 1st.
