Your magic transfers the powers of magic items. Choose two items; you must touch both items for the entirety of the spell's casting time. Each item must either an arcane focus, armour, a shield, or a weapon, and at least one of the items must be magical. Both items must be of the same type (for example, two arcane focuses or two weapons), but can be of different varieties (for example, a staff and a wand, or a longsword and a glaive). Different items, such as bags, belts, boots, cloaks, gloves, helms, rings, or robes can also be targeted at the DM's discretion, though both items must still be of the same type. Additionally, if either of the items has a rarity, it must be a common or uncommon magic item, and neither item can be an artefact or a consumable item. If a target is an unwilling sentient magic item, it can make a Charisma saving throw. On a successful saving throw, the spell fails and has no effect.
When you cast the spell, choose one of the following options:
Magical to Nonmagical. You transfer the powers from a magic item to a nonmagical item. When the spell is cast, the nonmagical item becomes magical, gaining any magical properties possessed by the magic item, and the magic item becomes nonmagical, losing any of its magical properties.
Magical to Magical. You transfer the powers of two magic items. When the spell is cast, the two magic items trade properties, each losing their original magical properties, but gaining the current magical properties of the other magic item.
The effects of this spell are permanent and cannot be reversed by any means short of a wish spell, or by using this spell to transfer the items' properties again.
At Higher Levels. Casting this spell with a higher level spell slot allows you to affect more powerful magic items. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, you can affect rare magic items; when you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, you can affect very rare magic items, and when you cast this spell using a 9th-level spell slot, you can affect legendary magic items.
