You weave a spell of binding into a written text. For the spell to work, the written text must be either a legally binding contract in the caster's current location; or, if both parties agree, the contract can be not legally binding, as long as it has the following elements, otherwise the spell fails without consuming its components:
- Offer. A manifestation of willingness to enter into the bargain.
- Acceptance. Unconditional willingness to be bound by the offer.
- Consideration. Something of value given in exchange for a promise.
- Competence. All parties must be of sound mind and willing.
As long as the contract is either legally binding or it complies with those elements, it becomes magically enforced and the spell succeeds.
If one party attempts to subjugate, disobey, or willingly circumvent any aspect of the contract, a Breach of Contract occurs. A Breach of Contract also occurs if any party attempts to tamper with the spell. On a Breach of Contract, the wronged party is magically notified of this occurrence, and may have one of the following effects occur per Breach of Contract:
- Punishment. The party who breached the contract takes force damage equal to four times their level or challenge rating. This damage ignores any resistance or immunity.
- Recall. The party who breached the contract must succeed on a Charisma saving throw against the caster’s spell save DC, or it has the urge to return to the wronged party.
- Repayment. The party who breached the contract owes any pre-defined punishment conditions defined in the contract itself. Failure to repay is considered a breach of contract.
If all parties involved, without any conditions and of their own free will, agree to alter or nullify the contract, the spell must be cast again. This spell can’t be dispelled by Dispel Magic, it can only be dispelled on an agreement to end it or a fulfilment of the contract.
* - (a written contract, or enough ink or blood for the entirety of the contract, which the spell consumes)Previous Versions
