As you snap your finger, a corpse of a dead creature or an undead minion you currently control within range, which subsequently dies, explodes with necromantic energy. Each creature in a 15-foot-radius sphere centered on the target must make a dexterity saving throw. A target takes 2d8 acid damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with this spell, the creature explodes, repeating the same effect as this spell.
The damage type of this spell can be changed at DM's discretion to better suit the exploding creature's physiology, for example, if you target a pile of bones with this spell, the DM may rule the damage type as piercing or bludgeoning instead of acid.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 2nd.
