As a bonus action, you weave together threads of arcane energy to create a throwing blade of crystallized energy in your hand. You choose the appearance of the blade (i.e. axe, dagger, sword, etc.) upon casting.
This magic weapon lasts for 1 minute. It counts as a simple ranged weapon with which you are proficient. It deals 2d8 force damage on a hit and has the finesse, light, and thrown properties (range 20/60). The weapon automatically returns to your hand after you make a ranged attack with it. Once before the spell ends, when you hit a target with this weapon, you may teleport to an unoccupied space within 5 ft of the target. This effect is known as bladestride.
If you drop the weapon or release it for any reason other than a thrown attack, it dissipates at the end of the turn. After that, while the spell persists, you can use a bonus action to cause the blade to reappear in your hand.
If you cast this spell using a slot of 3rd level or higher, increase the damage of the blade by 1d8 for every 2 levels above the 3rd with a maximum of 5d8 for a 7th level slot. Additionally, for every level of 3rd or higher, increase the number of bladestrides by 1.
