Well Meaning Torii Gate

Those who seek defense may find solace in Shinto temples. Though the long trek is tiresome, the spiritual benefits are unnumbered. Clerics, not wanting their gods' reach to be limited, have made a spell that creates their own torii gate. Of course, it isn't as effective as a real torii gate, however, if used right it is unspeakably useful.

The caster touches the ground in front of themselves and speaks an alignment. From then on, anyone with the alignment spoken by the caster that walks over the square touched by the caster will be paralyzed, charmed, or frightened. The effect ends after three rounds.
