This spell creates an undead servant. Choose a pile of bones or a corpse of a Medium or Small creature of challenge rating 1 or lower within range. Constructs, Oozes and elementals remains are unaffected by this spell. Your spell imbues the target with a foul mimicry of life, raising it as an undead creature. The target rise with a new life, it revive with a number of temporary hit points equal to 10 + 5 times the spell level used. It remains it's previous abilities but is undead in addition to it's other types (the GM may adjust the creature's game statistics accordingly to it's new nature).
On each of your turns, you can use a bonus action to mentally command any creature you made with this spell if the creature is within 60 feet of you. You decide what action the creature will take and where it will move during its next turn, or you can issue a general command, such as to guard a particular chamber or corridor. If you issue no commands, the creature only defends itself against hostile creatures. Once given an order, the creature continues to follow it until its task is complete.
The creature is under your control for 10 minutes, until you loose concentration or until it's temporary hit-points are reduced to 0, after which it crumble and turn to dust destroying the original corpse.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the maximum CR of the creature you can re-animate increase by 1 every slot level used above 2nd ( CR2 for lvl3 / CR3 for lvl4 ect ...).

Posted Aug 18, 2022The spell is intended as an alternative to the "animate dead" and "create undead" spells for a necromancer type character but without the permanence and control issues.
As it is my first time creating this type of homebrew spell i am looking to feedback especially concerning the spell's level, duration and CR aspects.
