While touching a vial of water the caster infuses it with the power of any spell they know, have prepared, or are able to perform by casting the spell onto the vial of water after it has been prepared by Brew Potion. This also cost the caster the appropriate spell slot for the spell being infused into the potion.
Alternatively, if the caster wishes to cast the secondary spell via ritual they may do so. Example: If a wizard wants to create a Potion of Detect Magic then he can ritually cast Brew Potion followed by the ritual casting of Detect Magic. Doing so will increase the overall casting time to the time spent casting both rituals.
Once both spell effects have been performed the vial of water is turned into a Potion instantaneously ignoring any normal creation times/costs associated with magical item creation.
A single casting can affect up to a dozen vials of water. Thereby with just two first level spells 12 potions of healing can be made if the wizard knows the cure wounds spell.
