Winston's Wintery Guardian

Conjure a hydra of water and ice at the chosen location.  The hydra has 1 head when cast at base spell level.  Upcasting adds additional head per spell level above base.  It occupies a 5 foot square area per 3 heads (so 1-3 heads would occupy 5x5 square; 4+ heads would occupy a 10x10 square). It is considered medium sized and is stationary.

Properties and Defenses

• The hydra is Stationary so auto fails dex/str saves.
• AC = Spell save DC + spell level cast at (Natural armor).
• Hit points = 15 per head. Every 15 dmg suffered roll to randomly determine which head is destroyed, and any lingering effects from that head end.
• Immune to cold damage
• Melee attackers suffer 5 cold dmg per head on successful hits.

Heads and Abilities

*Any spell attacks or save DC's use the caster's.

Roll a d6 to randomly determine which ability the head(s) acquire upon successfully casting the spell:

1. Ray of Frost:  See Ray of frost spell.
2. Wintery Belch:  Spew forth a wintery mix in 15-foot square adjacent to the hydra that freezes into slippery difficult terrain.  The effect lasts until this head is destroyed or the spell ends.  Each creature in its area takes 1d8 cold damage and must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or fall prone. A creature that enters the area or ends its turn there must also succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or fall prone.
3. Watery Jet:  Spews a high powered stream of water in a line up to 30 feet.  Each creature in the area takes 1d8 bludgeoning damage and must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be shoved per the Shove action.
4. Ice Knife:  See (Ice Knife) spell.
5. Frost Breath:  See (Dragon's Breath) spell but can only use cold damage.
6. Jaws of Ice:  10-foot reach bite attack; On hit the target is grappled and suffers 1d6 piercing and 1d6 cold damage and is restrained until the grapple ends.

The caster may use his bonus action to command the hydra to use any of it's available heads.
