To begin a Blood Binding, you must first offer a few drops of your own blood (freshly shed) into the ruby chalice. The chalice will absorb the offering and then begin to fill with fresh blood of indeterminate origin. To participate, a creature must stay within range for the hour it takes to complete the binding. The 10 minute casting duration is included in this hour and the effects don't set in until this hour is over. Up to thirteen creatures can participate in the ritual.
A creature that partakes in the ritual gains several benefits. The creature is cured of all diseases and poison, becomes immune to poison and being frightened, and makes all Wisdom saving throws with advantage. Its hit point maximum also increases by 2d10, and it gains the same number of hit points. These effects last for 24 hours.
A creature may optionally drink from the blood chalice as part of the binding. A maximum number of creatures equal to your proficiency bonus may participate in this enhanced binding. Within the next 24 hours, if any creature that drank from the chalice is reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, the creature magically drops to 1 hit point instead. Every other creature that drank from the chalice must immediately roll 1d4 + 1 and take damage equal to the amount rolled. This damage is not subject to resistances or immunities, and is not capable of reducing a creature below 1 HP. This effect may trigger only once.
