You point at a creature that you can see within range and create a noxious shadowy fog that consumes the creature whole, causing their body to ignite in agony and a sinister black ooze to leak from their facial cavities. The target must make a constitution saving throw, taking 6d8 necrotic damage and being infected with the shadow plague on a failure, or half as much on a success. The fog extends 5ft. away from the target creature and lightly obscures the area. The fog is magical in nature and cannot be displaced by wind or water. Any creature that enters the fog must immediately make a constitution saving throw, taking 4d8 necrotic damage on a failure or half as much on a success. If a creature fails its save by 5 or more, it is also infected with shadow plague.
The shadow plague is a magical disease. While infected with it, that creature is blinded, will have a dark ooze that perpetually seeps from their facial cavities, and any visible veins on their body will turn black. A creature infected with shadow plague can remake its saving throw at the end of its turn, ending the effect upon a success. If a creature fails 4 consecutive saving throws to resist the disease, the shadow plague permanently infects its host and can only be removed by magical means.
If someone touches an infected creature, they must make a constitution saving throw, resisting the shadow plague on a success or contracting it on a failure. A creature infected with shadow plague can remake its saving throw at the end of its turn, ending the effect upon a success. If a creature fails 4 consecutive saving throws to resist the disease, the shadow plague permanently infects its host and can only be removed by magical means.
